It's not the most straight-forward deal we've seen, but as part of a new mail-in offer, Sony is giving away a free Blu-ray disc with proof of purchase of two others.
In an under-the-radar promotion that apparently launched in late October, Sony is offering consumers a free Blu-ray disc from a list of twelve titles that include such hits as 'Casino Royale,' 'Black Hawk Down,' and 'Open Season.'
There are a few hitches, however. The first is you'll need to have purchased at least two other titles from that same list of 12 flicks. The second is that Sony isn't guaranteeing you'll receive your first pick for that free disc (instead, the studio asks for three top picks). Finally, you'll need to provide $2.99 in shipping and handling fees for each order.
On the bright side, you're under no obligation to buy the two discs from any specific retailer at any specific price, so if you plan on picking up a couple of the twelve titles listed anyway, there's little to lose.
Even better, there's nothing in this offer's posted rules that would seem to prevent it from being combined with any number of other deals being offered by various retailers this week, including Amazon's "Buy One, Get One Free" sale on Sony discs, and DVD Empire's $17.95 Sony Blu-ray sale.
According to the rebate form, this offer is only good with disc purchases made between October 28 - December 15, 2007. All requests must be received by January 1, 2008.
Thanks to Jim for the tip!
