Okay, so maybe it is not the announcement of 'Casino Royale' we're all waiting for, but Daniel Craig will return in the crime drama 'Layer Cake,' which Sony has rescheduled for a March 13 Blu-ray release.
For once, the postponement appears to have been worth it. Sony has bumped up the release to a BD-50, and the set will now be chock full of extras. In addition to a 1080p/MPEG-2 transfer and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround track, goodies include a filmmaker commentary, deleted scenes, two alternate endings, making-of featurette, music video, photo gallery, Q&A interview and storyboard comparisons.
Sony is asking $28.95 for this puppy. If they threw in a free Blu-ray copy of 'Casino Royale,' we'd be even happier.
Meanwhile, you 'Grudge' fans will have to wait a little longer for any scary blue kids in high-def. After receiving many emails about mounting web buzz, we contacted Sony and their official word is that 'Grudge 2' will not be hitting Blu-ray in early February, despite listings at Amazon and other online retailers. We'll certainly keep you posted if the news changes...
Fully revised specs for 'Layer Cake,' including box art, have now been added to our Blu-ray Release Schedule.
