Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, and MotorTrend have all released new previews and info for several of their upcoming shows and films.
Here's a full rundown of titles scheduled to arrive on each service:
Dickinson (Apple TV+, Fall) - A half-hour comedy series starring Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld. Created by Alena Smith, Dickinson audaciously explores the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of rebellious young poet Emily Dickinson.
The Spy (Netflix, September 6) - Inspired by the real-life story of former Mossad agent, Eli Cohen, who successfully goes undercover in Syria in the early 1960s. Cohen becomes close enough to ambitious military leaders and their rich friends to earn a game-changing level of trust about Syria’s biggest anti-Israel secret initiatives. Starring Sacha Baron Cohen
Bill Burr: Paper Tiger (Netflix, September 10) - Stand-up comedian, actor, and podcaster, Bill Burr, delivers a scathing review on the state of the world in his new Netflix stand-up comedy special, Bill Burr: Paper Tiger. Filmed in front of a packed house at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, Burr dives into Michelle Obama’s book tour, the problem with male feminists, his hang-ups on taking a bath, and why his personality is affecting his marriage.
The I-Land: Season 1 (Netflix, September 12) - When ten people wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there, they set off on a trek to try to get back home. They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the I-Land’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves -- or die as their worst ones.
The Ranch: Part 7 (Netflix, September 13) - Set in present day on a Colorado ranch outside Denver, this multi-camera family comedy series stars Ashton Kutcher, Sam Elliott, Debra Winger and Elisha Cuthbert. The show follows Colt’s (Kutcher) return home after a brief and failed semi-pro football career to run the family ranching business with his father Beau (Elliott). Winger stars as Colt’s mother, Maggie, and Cuthbert stars as Abby (Colt's soon to be fiancé).
Marianne (Netflix, September 13) - When a horror novelist takes a break from writing, she discovers the demon from her book exists in the real world. This malevolent spirit named Marianne draws her home and insists she continues writing... or else.
Disenchantment: Part 2 (Netflix, September 20) - In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.
The King (Netflix, Fall) - Hal (Timothée Chalamet), wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne, has turned his back on royal life and is living among the people. But when his tyrannical father dies, Hal is crowned King Henry V and is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape. Now the young king must navigate the palace politics, chaos and war his father left behind, and the emotional strings of his past life — including his relationship with his closest friend and mentor, the ageing alcoholic knight, John Falstaff (Joel Edgerton). Directed by David Michôd and co-written by Michôd and Edgerton, The King co-stars Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn, Robert Pattinson, and Lily-Rose Depp.
Lady and the Tramp (Disney+, November 12) - In Disney+’s Lady and the Tramp, a timeless re-telling of the 1955 animated classic, a pampered house dog and a tough but lovable stray embark on an unexpected adventure and, despite their differences, grow closer and come to understand the value of home.
Noelle (Disney+, November 12) - In Disney+'s holiday comedy Noelle, Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit and holiday fun, but wishes she could do something “important” like her beloved brother Nick, who will take over from their father this Christmas. When Nick is about to crumble like a gingerbread cookie from all the pressure, Noelle suggests he take a break and get away…but when he doesn’t return, Noelle must find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.
The World According to Jeff Goldblum (Disney+, November 12) - Documentary series in which Goldblum pulls back the curtain on a seemingly familiar object to reveal a world of astonishing connections, fascinating science, and a whole lot of big ideas.
Encore! (Disney+, November 12) - Executive Producer Kristen Bell brings together former castmates of a high school musical, tasking them with re-creating their original performance in a high school reunion like no other. Emotions run high as the former students face faded friendships, former flames, self-doubt, and killer choreography. Through it all, these unlikely groups of friends—with the help of Broadway's best—just might pull off a standing-ovation-worthy performance of beloved musicals like The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Annie and more.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (Disney+, November 12) - The 10-episode scripted series, set as the real-life East High, where the original movie was filmed, follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school's first-ever production of "High School Musical." With meta references and some docu-style elements, it's a modern take on the "classic" from 15 years ago. Show-mances blossom; friendships are tested, while new ones are made; rivalries flare; songs are sung; and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide.
Finally, MotorTrend has announced the addition of Top Gear to its streaming lineup. Subscribers to the MotorTrend app can now access 170 episodes of the UK Top Gear series from seasons 2 through 25; the Top Gear UK India Special; three seasons (19 total episodes) of Top Gear: Extra Gear; and episodes 1 through 5 of the MotorTrend exclusive Best of Top Gear.
- A current Netflix subscription starts at $13 per month for HD streaming and $16 per month for Ultra HD streaming.
- Disney+ is set to launch on November 12 for $6.99 per month or $69.99 for an annual subscription.
- Pricing and a launch date for Apple TV+ have not been announced yet, but the service is expected to debut this fall.
- A current MotorTrend subscription costs $5 per month.
