Disney has announced a March Blu-ray debut for the hit 2002 sports drama 'The Rookie.'
Starring Dennis Quaid as a retired baseball coach who gets one last shot at pitching for the majors, 'The Rookie' was one of 2002's biggest surprise hits, grossing $75 million at the domestic box office. Confirming earlier retailer reports, Disney has set a March 4, 2008 arrival for the film on Blu-ray.
Supplements will mirror the previous 2003 standard-def DVD release, and are set to include an audio commentary with director John Lee Hancock, the "Spring Training: Baseball Tips From The Pros" and "The Inspirational Story Of Jim Morris" featurettes, deleted scenes, and the theatrical trailer. There were no announced Blu-ray exclusives at press time.
Tech specs boast 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround audio.
The studio has set a suggested retail price for the Blu-ray of $29.99.
