"we are sorry that many players are still having a hard time getting connected."
The launch of 'DriveClub' has not gone well. The racing title, which had always been pitched with online as a major component, has had such a servere case of server trouble that the developer chose to not only place a hard limit on the total number of players that could be online, but also put the release of the PlayStation Plus version of the game on indefinite hold. Finally, today there has been some promising developments. Over the last 24 hours, the developer pushed out update 1.04, which "Implements several game-side Multiplayer improvements to reduce server load." Unfortunately, along with improvements that should allow more customers to connect, ongoing "essential diagnostics" by the developer have the side effect of knocking players offline. Naturally, with the reatil version still unstable, there is no hint of the a release day for the PlayStation Plus version.
From Evolution Studios,
Over the next 24 hours we are rolling out a new game update alongside server upgrades that will help to improve server performance, clubs and multiplayer functionality.
We are also running essential diagnostics periodically to help us continue to improve server performance, which may disrupt online play for you when you get connected. This will be kept to a minimum.
We're glad that more of you are getting to play online but we are sorry that many players are still having a hard time getting connected. We are working around the clock to improve connectivity and will keep you informed as we continue to make progress.
