Three new 4K projector models have been revealed.
Sony has detailed the latest additions to its 4K HDR home theater projector lineup. The new models include the entry-level VPL-VW285ES ($5,000), mid-level VPL-VW385ES ($8,000), and premium VPL-VW885ES ($25,000).
"Sony's newest line-up of true 4K HDR home theater projectors delivers the engagement experience for cinema-viewers and gamers of all genres," said Mike Fasulo, Sony Electronics President and COO. "The new projector line provides an entry-level for those seeking to elevate their viewing experience to true 4K with the VW285ES or reach further into image perfection with the VW385ES home theater projector experience."
The entry-level VPL-VW285ES features support for projecting images up to 200 inches in true 4K HDR at 60p with 10-bit depth. Likewise, the device uses Sony's TRILUMINOS tech for a wider color gamut with up to 6,000 hours of use. Meanwhile, the mid-range VPL-VW385ES also provides 4K HDR support along with a dynamic contrast of 200,000:1.
In addition, the company has revealed its new premium VPL-VW885ES as well. The compact true 4K HDR laser home theater projector offers 2,000 lumens of brightness, Infinite Dynamic Contrast with real-time laser light level control, TRILUMINOS display tech, and 20,000 hours of lamp life.
Finally, Sony has also announced a partnership with Kaleidescape to offer new promotional deals and bundles for customers who buy a Sony 4K HDR projector and Kaleidescape Strato 4K HDR movie player (full review coming soon) between September 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018.
"Sony is committed to creating the highest quality projectors," said Cheena Srinivasan, Founder & CEO of Kaleidescape. "Sony projectors, with their true 4K HDR picture quality, are the best home projectors for viewing movies from a Kaleidescape 4K player because the player provides true HDR BD quality and the Sony projectors can put all that quality onto the screen."
The VPL-VW285ES ($5,000) and VPL-VW385ES ($8,000) are available now, and the VPL-VW885ES ($25,000) is expected to start shipping in November.
