At least not this year.
'Star Wars' is officially back in everyone's good graces, with 'The Force Awakens' turning out to be a nigh-universal crowd pleaser the likes of which we haven't seen from the series since, well, before 1999. So, of course, with this snazzy new 'Star Wars' movie everyone loves being out, and with a snazzy new 'Star Wars' game just happening to be out at the same time, you might be wondering, as one intrepid Twitter user was if there's any crossover planned between the new flick and 'Battlefront'. And the answer is a pretty emphatic "Nope."
Very simply, EA's response, when asked by said user was "Our team is focusing on the original trilogy for this release of 'Star Wars Battlefront'." You can definitely read between the lines there with the words "this release"; EA's plans for the series always included multiple sequels, and let's face it, DICE has always emphasized that the current game wasn't exactly something they threw together for funsies. Getting new planets like Takodana or Starkiller Base rendered on the same level as Tatooine will require putting some serious effort in, the kind way more suited for another full game. Hopefully one with a single player campaign.
For now, players will just have to settle for the Batle of Jakku DLC, alrready available, which is the reason there's all that Imperial crap strewn around Jakku's desert in 'Episode VII'. And also probably take heart that the time DICE isn't spending on 'Force Awakens' DLC is probably being spent polishing up 'Mirror's Edge Catalyst'. Fair trade.
